How To Make A Custom Silicone Watch Strap

Silicone watch straps are widely used today. It’s safe, durable and comfortable material to make watch straps. You can find a lot of apple watch bands made by silicone rubber. To make a silicone watch strap, you will need the following materials:
- Silicone rubber gel
- Catalyst (hardener)
- Watch strap mold
- Buckles or Clasp
Here are the steps to make a silicone watch strap:
- Choose the right silicone rubber: There are various types of silicone rubber available, each with its own set of properties. Depending on the intended use of the watch strap, you may need to choose a particular type of silicone rubber that is durable, flexible, and resistant to water and UV rays. There is also different hardness degree of silicone.
- Prepare the mold: Apply a release agent to the watch strap mold to prevent the silicone rubber from sticking to it. Make sure the mold is clean and dry before applying the release agent.
- Mix the silicone rubber and catalyst: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for mixing the silicone rubber and catalyst. Usually, you will need to mix a small amount of catalyst into the silicone rubber in a mixing bowl.
- Pour the mixture into the mold: Once the silicone rubber and catalyst are mixed thoroughly, pour the mixture into the prepared mold. Be sure to fill the mold completely, as the silicone rubber will shrink slightly as it cures.
- Clamp the mold: Use clamps to hold the mold tightly closed while the silicone rubber cures. This will help ensure that the watch strap retains its shape.
- Allow the silicone rubber to cure: Depending on the type of silicone rubber and catalyst used, the curing time may vary. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the curing time and temperature.
- Remove the watch strap from the mold: Once the silicone rubber has cured, remove the watch strap from the mold. Trim any excess material from the edges, and use a hole punch to create holes for the watch face and buckle.
